The Alem Cultural and Entertainment Center (Turkmen: «Älem» medeni dynç alyş merkezi) is a cultural venue in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, officially opened on May 18, 2012, with President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in attendance. The structure stands 95 meters (312 ft) tall, topped by a 17-meter (56 ft) decorative spire, and has six floors, four above ground and two below. A glass and white-steel casing on top contains a Ferris wheel named 'Alem,' meaning 'The Universe,' which was recognized by Guinness World Records as the tallest Ferris wheel in an enclosed space at its opening. The wheel itself measures 47.6 meters (156 ft) and was constructed by Fabbri Group through its Giant Wheels brand.
