The Oguzhan Palace serves as the official residence and main workplace for the president of Turkmenistan, located on Independence Square in Ashgabat. Since the late 1990s, it has functioned as the presidential headquarters. President Saparmurat Niyazow resided here from 1997 until his death in 2006. The new building, completed in May 2011, replaced the nearby Türkmenbaşy Palace. The complex also includes the Prezident Köşgi (Presidential Palace) on its western side, bordered by Independence Square. The northern boundary is Köşk Köçesi (Palace Street), while Galkynyş Köçesi (Renaissance Street) runs along the southern edge, leading to Galkynyş meýdany (Renaissance Square). The complex is bounded to the east by Beýik Saparmyrat Türkmenbaşy Street.
